"Real World, Real People" is a social non-governmental organization (hereinafter referred to as the Organization) founded in 2003 by a group of doctors and other people living with HIV. The Organization had the primary goal to improve the quality of life for people living with HIV. It is the first organization in Armenia to work with this population and continues to be governed by the participation of people living with HIV.
Since its inception, the organization has initiated and implemented various
measures and programs to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV.
In addition, the Organization has worked to raise public awareness about HIV
and AIDS and eliminate descrimination and stigma experienced by those
living with HIV.
Over time, the Organization has expanded its
activities to include palliative care, pain management, and harm reduction
among PWID (People Who Inject Drugs). Through its ongoing programs and
activities, the organization promotes the protection of the rights of people
living with HIV, people in need of palliative care, people who inject drugs,
and other vulnerable groups.
The Organization works to ensure their rights to non-discrimination, dignified
living, and access to social, psychological, and medical services.The
beneficiaries of the organization are people living with HIV, people who inject
drugs, and people in need of palliative care.The organization actively
advocates for the elimination of discriminatory laws, and change of practices.
The organization's office, which is an administrative and community center, is
located in Yerevan, but the services provided by the organization are available
throughout Armenia including the Lori and Shirak regions. RWRP also provides
services to people living with HIV living outside the Republic of Armenia.The
organization is a member of a coalition of local, regional and international
networks dealing with HIV, AIDS, human rights and gender equality.
