Training for Future Healthcare Professionals on “HIV Prevention Among Youth Through Peer Involvement”
On October 22–23, Real World, Real People NGO hosted students from the Ararat State Medical College. The two-day training aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in HIV prevention, treatment, and support for people living with HIV, as well as to provide important information on working with people who use drugs (PWUD) and individuals affected by tuberculosis (TB).


Throughout the training, several key topics were discussed:
- Common myths about HIV
- What to do when a person learns about their HIV status
- How to support people living with HIV and avoid discriminatory attitudes
- Psychological approaches and specificities of working with different beneficiaries
- Working with people who use drugs
- Tuberculosis and its impact on the quality of life
The engaging discussions and practical exercises helped strengthen participants’ awareness and professional capacity, contributing to the creation of an inclusive environment free from discrimination and stigma.


The training was conducted by Real World, Real People NGO specialists — social workers Ani Terzyan, Mariam Karapetyan, and Larisa Harutyunyan, psychologist Tatev Nalbandyan, counselor Lera Rostripan and outreach coordinator Sargis Avetisyan.
