Ahead of World AIDS Day, the “Real World, Real People” Social NGO held a workshop for journalists on November 20.
The workshop aimed to deepen journalists’ knowledge and skills in covering HIV and AIDS, focusing on prevention, treatment, human rights protection, and public awareness.
Participants discussed:
-
how to cover HIV and AIDS sensitively and responsibly,
-
which linguistic and ethical approaches are applied in international media practice,
-
how the media shapes public perceptions of people living with HIV.
The training was led by Zhenya Mayilyan, President of RWRP NGO, and Erik Hakobyan, the organization’s Public Relations and Communications Officer and a journalist.
Both experienced and early-career journalists took part in the workshop, showing interest in social, public health, and human rights topics.
We thank all participants for their active engagement and their commitment to advancing these important issues.
Together, we can help shape a non-stigmatizing, supportive, and well-informed media landscape.
